“Music as a practice in itself has great potential for transforming your life, even if you never perform in front of an audience.”

Through practicing on our own, and ideally with the guidance of a teacher, we learn about ourselves.  We learn about our instrument and we gradually transform into a being that is capable of making more and more music. Through relating to others, we learn about listening, interacting, the enjoyment of relationality, how to fit into a group and harmonize with others.  These lessons do not apply only to the realm of music but influence how we move through the world.

Music returns us

to a place within that is rich in feeling, vibrantly alive, beyond the thinking mind.  The right music, if we allow it to, will draw us out of our ordinary concerns, our habitual way of thinking, acting, being.  Just as listening to music with openness can vivify us and connect us to the depth and richness of our own being, so can the practice of music.
